Today’s inspiration comes from the majestic elephant, a creature both mighty and tender. Their lives echo truths about God’s faithfulness and His hand in working all things for good. Allow me to share what the elephant, in all its grandeur, whispers to our hearts about our Creator.
Memory: A Gift to Treasure
Elephants are celebrated for their extraordinary memory. They recall paths to watering holes during droughts and remember faces, even years later. In much the same way, we’re called to remember God's faithfulness. How often has He shown up in unexpected ways? How many times has He provided when we felt empty?
Psalm 77:11 sings, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.”
Let us, like elephants, remember not only the big miracles but also the quiet moments when God carried us, nudged us forward, or whispered, "Keep going."
Strength: For His Purpose
Though elephants are strong enough to knock down trees, they are known for their gentleness. They use their strength to protect their herd, to guide the young, and to care for the weak. What a beautiful picture of God’s heart—and the strength He calls us to share with others.
Consider this: When you face challenges, God isn’t just asking you to be strong for yourself. He’s shaping you to be strong for others too. Ephesians 6:10 reminds us, “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” Like the elephant, our strength is not for destruction but for protection, love, and building up our community.
Empathy: God's Heart in Action
Elephants mourn their losses, comfort the distressed, and celebrate new life together. They show us what it means to love deeply and to live in community. Isn’t that exactly what Christ calls us to do? Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
My dear Althea, never doubt that your compassion and empathy reflect God's heart. Like the elephants who care for each other, you are uniquely designed to notice what others might miss and to bring comfort where it’s most needed. That is a beautiful gift, and God will use it to bless so many.
The Creator’s fingerprints are all over the elephants. They remind us to hold tight to the memory of God's faithfulness, to use our strength for His purposes, and to live with love and empathy.
So, as you face this day, remember: God is weaving all things for good, even when the journey feels uncertain. Trust Him, as the elephants trust the path to water, and know that His plans for you are as steady and sure as the steps of these magnificent creatures.
Yours in grace and truth,
