Known by the Shepherd: Finding Faith in Uncertainty
You don’t have to have all the answers to belong to Jesus—He already knows and loves you.
My Dearest Daughters,
Did you know that sheep can recognize up to 50 faces—including their shepherd’s? 🐑 Scientists have found that sheep remember the people who care for them and feel safe when they see a familiar face.
That’s kind of a big deal.
And it makes me think of what Jesus said:
"I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own." — John 10:14 (NKJV)
Even if you’re not sure about Him yet, He’s already sure about you.
Sheep, Shepherds & Searching for Answers
I know faith feels complicated right now. You have questions. You want to understand, but it doesn’t all click the way people say it should.
And guess what? That’s okay.
A baby lamb doesn’t know its shepherd right away. It learns his voice by being near him, watching him, and listening over time. Faith isn’t about knowing all the answers—it’s about learning to recognize Jesus’ voice, little by little.
Being “saved” isn’t a rulebook—it’s belonging. It’s knowing that even when you wander, you’re still part of His flock, and He’s never going to give up on you.
Lessons from the Lamb 🐑
1️⃣ Sheep Recognize Their Shepherd – They don’t figure it out in a day. They learn through time, trust, and experience. Jesus isn’t asking you to have all the answers—just to be willing to listen.
2️⃣ Sheep Wander, But Their Shepherd Finds Them – Sometimes, lambs get lost. They get distracted, confused, or stuck. But a good shepherd always goes looking for them. Jesus isn’t waiting for you to “get it right”—He’s already coming toward you.
3️⃣ Sheep Trust Their Shepherd – They don’t understand everything, but they follow the one who feeds them, protects them, and leads them to what they need. Jesus does the same. He doesn’t force you—He invites you.
So, What Does This Mean for You?
You don’t have to figure it all out today. Jesus isn’t waiting for you to pass a test—He’s just asking you to take a step.
Being saved isn’t about rules—it’s about a relationship. It’s about knowing that you belong to Him, no matter what.
Even when you doubt, you’re still His. Sheep wander, but their shepherd never loses sight of them.
Reflection Questions:
Have you ever felt lost or unsure about Jesus?
What would it look like to let yourself belong before you understand everything?
If Jesus really is the Good Shepherd, what would it mean to trust Him just a little more today?
Practical Step for Today:
Take a deep breath. If faith feels confusing, just talk to Jesus about it. You don’t need perfect words—just honesty.
You can even say:
"Jesus, I don’t understand everything about You. But if You’re really there, help me see You."
That’s a step. And every step counts.
Let’s Pray:
Jesus,
I don’t always understand You. But I want to. If You really are the Good Shepherd, help me hear Your voice. Help me trust that You see me, You love me, and You’re not giving up on me.
Even when I have doubts, remind me that I belong to You.
Amen.
Decree & Declare:
I decree and declare that I am known, loved, and never forgotten by Jesus. Even in my doubts, I am part of His flock, and He will never stop guiding me.
Being saved isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being part of Jesus’ flock and knowing He loves you, even in the moments of doubt.
Loved this. I often spend time in sheep pastures and love the biblical imagery of sheep. 🐑. Where did you read that about sheep recognizing faces etc?
