You are Beloved,
What a fascinating creation of God the otter is! With playful charm and surprising wisdom, this water-dwelling creature carries a lesson tucked right under its arm—literally.
Did you know that otters have a special pocket where they keep their favorite rock? Not just any rock—one they’ve carefully chosen to use when cracking open shellfish. It’s treasured, practical, and always near.
And isn’t that just like our walk with Christ?
Jesus, our Rock, invites us to not only build our lives upon Him but to carry Him close. In Matthew 7:24, He says,
“So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
The otter knows its favorite rock is essential. And for us? Christ is more than essential—He’s everything. Our firm foundation. Our safe place. Our constant.
And there’s more. Psalm 119:11 says,
“I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.”
Like the otter, we’re invited to tuck away the Word—to store it deep inside our hearts. Not just for Sunday mornings or hard days, but for every moment. For laughter. For tears. For the in-between.
So today, hold tight to the Rock.
Let Scripture be your pocket treasure.
Let Christ be the joy you carry.
Whether you're walking into school, sitting with a friend, or just staring up at the sky—remember the otter. And remember your Rock.
Let’s pray
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe.
Thank You for the wonder in Your creation—how even an otter can remind us of Your faithfulness.
Help us to treasure You more, to store Your Word in our hearts, and to never forget that we are held steady by Your love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessing
May you carry the Rock of your salvation like the otter carries her stone—close, constant, and treasured. May His Word be your strength and His joy your song.
Decree & Declare
I decree and declare: I will treasure God’s Word in my heart and carry Christ with me through every wave and wind.
I learned something new. Thanks!
