My Dearest Althea and Cordelia,
Let’s talk about something incredible today—God’s constant, never-failing care for us. Life can sometimes feel like we’re holding onto heavy burdens, unsure of how to keep going. But here’s the beautiful truth: we don’t have to carry it all on our own. God promises to carry us, just as He has from the very beginning of our lives and will until the very end.
Isaiah 46:4 reminds us:
"Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you."
Lessons from the River and the Crocodile
A Gentle Current: Resting in God’s Care
Crocodiles are powerful swimmers, capable of moving both with and against the current. But when they want to conserve energy, they let the river’s current carry them along, resting in the flow.
This is such a beautiful reminder for us. We don’t always have to fight through life’s challenges on our own. Like the crocodile trusting the river, we can lean into God’s unchanging care, letting Him carry us when we feel tired or overwhelmed. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Just as the river is steady and reliable, so is God’s love and faithfulness.
Let Him Carry Your Burdens
The crocodile may look tough on the outside, but even the strongest creatures take moments to rest. This is true for us, too. We’re not meant to carry all of life’s burdens by ourselves. When Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30), He meant that every fear, every struggle, and every sin had been taken up by Him.
Instead of trying to push forward on your own, let God’s strength be your refuge. He is always there, ready to bear what feels too heavy for you to hold.
Reflection Questions
How has God carried you through tough times in the past?
Are there burdens you’re holding onto that you can give to Him today?
What does trusting God to “carry you” look like in your daily life?
Practical Step for Today
Think of an area in your life where you feel uncertain or hesitant. Write down a few affirmations based on 2 Timothy 1:7, like:
“I am strong because God’s Spirit is within me.”
“I trust God to guide me through life’s currents.”
“I can rest in His care when I feel weary.”
Say these out loud each morning this week. Let God’s truth shape your confidence and trust in His care.
Let’s Pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being constant and faithful, for carrying us through every moment of life. Teach us to trust You like the crocodile trusts the river’s flow, resting in Your strength and care. Help us to release our burdens to You, knowing that Your love never fails. Thank You for completing Your work on the cross and for delivering us from fear and struggle.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Decree and Declare
I decree and declare that God’s unchanging hand carries me through every stage of life. I will trust in His power, love, and faithfulness to sustain me, no matter the season.
