Evening Reflection: Resting in the Strength of the Lord
Anchored in His Peace, Renewed by His Presence
Ah, dear reader, as evening draws its gentle veil, may I invite you to quiet your heart and fix your gaze on the One who brings light to the darkness and restores every heart that is broken? Tonight, let us find our joy not only in what we have overcome but in the One who walks beside us, making all things new. Yes, there is a sacred beauty in resting in His strength, breathing in His peace, and letting go of every fear that once held us bound.
Consider the still small voice that spoke to Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-12, not in the wind, not in the earthquake, not in the fire—but in a gentle whisper. How easily the noise of life can drown out His voice if we do not still ourselves to listen. Yet, it is in those quiet moments, when all else fades, that we hear the tender, loving reminder: *“I am with you. Do not fear.”* Can we not let this truth settle deeply in our spirits as we prepare for rest?
So take heart, for the Lord is near. Go to sleep and rest easy tonight, knowing you are held by the One who never slumbers. He has given us His Spirit—a constant oil and fire within us—igniting our faith and bringing strength to our souls. *“It’s Your breath in my lungs, so I pour out my praise to You only. Great are You, Lord!”* Indeed, He alone is worthy of every breath, every ounce of strength, and every whispered prayer of praise.
In this newness of spirit, we find ourselves transformed. The old self—who would have cowered or despaired—might indeed be astonished at the strength we now possess, not in ourselves but in Him. This *“new, new, new everything new”* version of you is fashioned by grace and made resilient in the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
So, dear soul, release every care and fear tonight. Let your heart settle into His peace and rejoice, for there is *joy in the mourning.* Tomorrow holds promise, and tonight, you are held. Listen for that gentle whisper and know you are never alone. The One who makes you strong watches over you, His beloved.
Great are You, Lord, indeed. May we rest secure in Your love.
Yours in trust and tender praise,
Elizabeth 🌿🕊️
